Storytime author read aloud - read along The Sikh Snowman

We're thrilled to unveil our very first author, brave and wonderful enough, to read their book for our first read aloud, read along storytime video. We're hoping this will be the first in a line of children's authors reading their stories aloud and inspiring us all to embrace regular reading in our lives, as well as helping our children explore their world through the magical medium of story.

Today's author is none other than Owen Gallagher, whose story 'The Sikh Snowman' featured in our diverse Christmas Book Club last week. Before you settle under a cosy blanket with your little one to watch and listen, here's the 5 questions we asked Owen when we got the chance.

5 questions with Owen Gallagher...

1. Where did you get the idea for your book?

The idea of this book came from watching Year 1 children in my class making a snow person.

2. What is the best advice you would give an aspiring young writer?

Read, Write. Read, Write. All of your life.

3. What was your favourite book when you were a child?

That's a difficult one to answer as there were no books in my house.

4. We could all do with a laugh, tell us your best joke…

Where does the Sikh Snowman keep his money?

Answer: In a snow bank!

5. Okay, that's a good one. Tell us another!

What do you call a snowman in the summer?

Answer: puddle!
