Maggie and the Magpie

Updated: Nov 21, 2020

Today we're delighted to share our pandemic Q & A from Maggie and the Magpie founder Fiona Kennedy. Fiona launched the business just one year ago when she was just making a few 'bits' for her daughter. People began to ask if she could make for them and so it began... Fiona's hero product are her beautiful wreaths which she can personalise. Each one is designed and handcrafted with each piece hand-cut to create a very unique and pretty addition to your door!

Ten questions hastily scribbled on the back of a pandemic postcard with Fiona Kennedy

1.What has 2020 taught you so far?

2020 has taught me to appreciate the simple things in life. It has made us slow down as a f

amily and not run from one thing to another as you don’t actually need to be doing every thing and spending time at home as a family is more than enough some of the time.

2. What is the best small business ‘oxygen mask’ piece of advice you could share?

Don’t give up. You have to spend all the spare hours you have developing and making ideas become real. It doesn’t come over night. But most of all be original.

3. When is the last time you laughed out loud and why?

Hmmm I seem to laugh with my family most days from the silliest of things

4. What (& where) would be your dream meal?

In Portugal at our favourite beach restaurant off the beaten track eating delicious prawns and fish on the bbq.

5. How do you think 2020 will be remembered?

The year we all stayed home.

6. What’s the best joke you’ve ever heard?

What do you call a three legged donkey? A wonky donkey. (Yes it’s terrible but it’s the only one I have ever remembered!!!)

7. If your business life story was going to be played in a film of your life, who would play you and what would the film be called?

Kate Hudson, always believe in you

8. Sum up your business style in five words or less

Gentle , personal and creative

9. What’s the most incredible thing you’ve ever seen in your life?

Coming up from a dive off of the lizard in cornwall I was surrounded by 4 basking sharks. They are incredible.

10.What’s the first thing you will do when we come out of this pandemic?

Hug, hug and hug my family and friends lots.
